چکیده
Hair shaft disorders encompass a wide range of hair defects with or without fragility, which could be acquired inherited genetically. may localized generalized and are characterized by changes in color, structure, length, density. Pili torti, also called twisted hair, is clinical entity the flattened 180° along its axis. annulati described as striped showing alternate light dark bands. Trichorrhexis nodosa fracture shaft. trichorrhexis has been reported single patient. Herein, we report familial case pili annulati, autosomal dominant inheritance.

Pili Annulati and Trichorrhexis Nodosa in the Same Patient: Cause or Coincidence?
PURPOSE To determine the relationship between pili annulati (PA) and acquired trichorrhexis nodosa (TN) seen in the same patient, considering the two main theories evoked by previous studies: greater stiffness of darker PA bands or associated cuticular damage. PROCEDURES Light microscopy of hair shafts from different regions of the patient's scalp. RESULTS TN was not superimposed to dark ba...
متن کاملClinical presentation of pili torti - Case report*
Pili torti also known as 'twisted hairs' (Latin: pili=hair; torti=twisted) is a rare, congenital or acquired clinical presentation, in which the hair shaft is flattened at irregular intervals and twisted 180º along its axis. It is clinically characterized by fragile, brittle, coarse and lusterless hairs, due to uneven light reflection on the twisted hair surface. Pili torti may be associated wi...

متن کاملFamilial hypothyroidism with autosomal dominant inheritance.
Three generations of a family with clinical and subclinical hypothyroidism caused by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) unresponsiveness are described. Findings were low to normal serum thyroxine, raised serum TSH, and low radioiodine uptake; goitre was notably absent. This family is the first evidence of an autosomal dominant mode of transmission of TSH unresponsiveness and may enable identific...

© 2017 Indian Dermatology Online Journal | Published by Wolters Kluwer Medknow Trichorrhexis nodosa (TN) is a well‐known entity which affects hair shafts. Clinically, it presents as minute nodular concretions along the hair shaft. This is caused by the loss of cuticle and cortical fibers. On light microscopy, tiny nodules appear as “thrust paint brushes” as if two brushes are thrust into each o...
